It’s like a wet dream– could Washington, one day soon, actually start operating from Policy & Governance?
Actual enforcement of the Law of the Land, ie the Constitution?!!
And, dare we hope, inspirational Leadership?????
…You mean, “West Wing” wasn’t some kind of hippy ‘limousine liberal’ fantasy…
…You mean, we could actually see intelligent, patriotic, hard-working officials dedicated to making our Government work… For the People, By the People?!!!
…You mean, after eight (8) long years…:
No more Signing Statements, undermining Constitutional Checks & Balances
No more blurring of Church & State… ie governance by ‘Social Conservatives’ [read: Born-Again & Moral-Majority] who never Discuss but always Condemn
No more ‘Compassionate Conservatives’ who are anything but compassionate -or- conservative
No more headlong increase in the Federal Debt
No more “Reagan proved that deficits don’t matter”
No more political appointments & sinecures to important policy posts, of completely unqualified personnel
No more gridlocked Congress, Republican ‘Nuclear Option’, &/or continuous fillibustering (on-target to exceed 3x more fillibusters this Congressional session, as were ever before).
No more ‘Reverse Robin-Hood’ tax-cuts for the rich
No more gutting the EPA
No more gutting the Consumer Product Safety Commission
No more ‘privatizing’ national resources
No more ‘no-bid’ sweetheart contracts to Halliburton/etc
No more ‘Go-it-Alone’ strategy on the world stage
No more hostility to the United Nations
No more “Bring it On” war-mongering
No more blowing-off the Kyoto Accord
No more Children Left Behind… & actually fund better schools, teachers, and Student Outreach this time…
No more mad dash to drill everywhere & start building nuclear power plants (oh sure they’re “carbon neutral”[sic]… they’ve just that teensy 1,000yr+ 1/2-life toxic waste disposal problem…)
No more blatant, outright lying by an Entitled Ruling Party who utterly disrespects & disregards anyone who isn’t a “Have-More”
No more Executive ‘Culture of Cynical Bungling’
No more ‘vp’ who “isn’t part of the Executive Branch”[sic]
No more ‘Decider’ who “goes by his gut”
And Most-Importantly–
No more Social-Conservative, Pro-Big-Business/Anti-Worker’s-Rights Activists on the Supreme Court.
