Last time that was uttered, didn’t the person saying it get their head chopped-off or something?

I remember reading about Marie Antoniette as a kid, & wondering, “how could anyone be so clueless?” Clearly, it was me being the clueless one…

…I’m sure this could be spun any which way… but one thing strikes me: even “Tricky Dick” Nixon himself, who held an incredible contempt for the hoi polloi, at least always attempted to put on smiles & fake that he gave-a-shit to the ‘unwashed masses’.

What does it mean, when the ppl running this country don’t even feel they have to make an attempt to pretend they care?
